It was a very sad day Friday, July 31, 2009 when Lakeside lost one of it''s most prominent citizens, Harold Hilliker. In addition to being a life-long Lakeside resident and the owner of Hilliker's Ranch Fresh Eggs in Lakeside, Harold was well known throughout the community for his very-active involvement in several educational and non-profit groups:
Lakeside's River Park Conservancy, East County Boys and Girls Club, Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego, Grossmont Union School District, the State Rules Committee for Fairs and Expositions, and the School Board of Trustees for Lakeside Union School District. Harold had also served on the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, which named him the Lakeside Citizen of the Year in 2005.
Harold is survived by his wife Shelly, two children Frank and Lara, a foster daughter Heather Warner, 3 grandchildren and Heather's two children. Harold will be missed by the whole community.
A memorial was held in Harold's honor on Sunday, August 16th 2009 at the Lakeside Rodeo grounds.
