Normally if I'm going to buy beef jerky I'll just get it at the local grocery or convenience store. This time Amy surprised me when she made her first order from Hearst Ranch.
She bought the original flavor beef jerky, but they also have a Teriyaki and Peppered flavors too. Since I'm used to the dry, hard and spicy Jerky that you get at the grocery store, I was very surprised with the Hearst Ranch Jerky.
My first impression was that it was just ok, but had no zing to it. However, the more I ate, the more I realized how good it really is. It was incredibly soft and had a sweet taste to it. So even though it's not spicy at all, it's still a great flavor.
If you were like me and thought that all Jerky was like chewing salty leather, think again. This is the best Jerky that I've tried so far (even better than the Fatman's Beef Jerky which I also like). I'm guessing it's because Hearst Ranch Jerky is made with Grass-Fed and Grass-Finished California Beef, which makes a huge difference in taste.
While it seems to be slightly more expensive than the grocery store brands, it's well worth the extra cost. The only real problem I had was putting it down. The package says that there are four 1oz. servings in the bag, but I couldn't put it down and ended up eating the whole bag.
I'm definitely looking forward to trying the Teriyaki and Peppered flavors on our next purchase from Hearst Ranch, and I'll update this review then.

This Hearst Ranch Beef Jerky review is my true opinion of the product that Amy and I purchased directly from their website and tried ourselves, and were not directly compensated in any way. However, I am an affiliate of Hearst Ranch Beef, which means that I will get a commission on a sale only if someone clicks a link on this site and then makes a purchase at Hearst Ranch Beef. The bottom line: even if I wasn't affiliated I would still recommend it, just like I do for other products that I like and am not affiliated with!
